Billing Business Analyst

This position plays a key role in the creation, development, and administration of the billing product as well as analysis for preparation and review of monthly billing performance and financial metrics. This position is responsible for supporting the billing finance and metrics area with accurate, timely and relevant business analysis while serving as a liaison with numerous business areas within OneShield including sales, marketing and financial planning. Assists in the development of special projects across the billing organization. All job duties and responsibilities must be carried out in compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Compiles and maintenance of detailed billing metrics that will be used to quantify expected benefits from proposed billing projects.
- Work with business SMEs (Billing, Accounts Receivable, Sales, Finance) and the technical team to document business and functional requirements, functional design, testing strategy and test plans. Documentation includes use cases, business requirements, as-is processes, to-be processes and systems
- Manage the business requirements process, including detailed requirements sessions, open issues, required artifacts and data samples, and review and signoff by core team and stakeholders.
- Work with business and functional leaders to identify and communicate key strategies, initiatives, opportunities, metrics and goals that effectively drive and improve billing sales as well as implement initiatives to address any issues.
- Identify and monitor key factors that could influence billing performance while evaluating and recommending new influences. Insure that insights from this information are incorporated into strategic and financial plans.
- Support business leader's efforts to improve performance by assisting with strategic projects that will improve efficiencies and reduce costs.
- Design and conduct other complex ad hoc analysis in support of key business objectives, as necessary.
Skills and Specifications
- An understanding of financial and accounting concepts and modeling techniques.
- Exposure to business analysis concepts. Formal business analysis skills including experience supporting projects is preferred.
- Must demonstrate the ability to analyze problems, probe facts, identify and question assumptions and analyze issues from different perspective.
- Highly motivated self-starter with an ability to effectively manage a range of tasks and projects in an environment with changing priorities.
- Exhibit flexibility working in a fast-paced environment requiring quick response.
- Must have demonstrated effective analytical, communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Must be detail-oriented with a heavy customer service focus.
- Ability to design, build and manage financial models. Strong PC skills (i.e., excel, visio, macros, lookup formulas, pivot tables, etc.)
Education and Qualifications
College degree in Business, Computer Information Systems/MIS, Accounting and/or Finance preferred.
- Business Analysis Certification or experience a plus
- 3 to 5 yrs of experience in billing, or financial planning, data analytics and reporting.
